My Fair London, the London Equality Group, has produced an excellent booklet called: Why Inequality Matters
The booklet draws on the bestselling book “The Spirit Level – Why Equality is Better for Everyone” by Professors Richard Wilkinson and Kate Pickett – you may have read of it elsewhere on this site 🙂 – which shows that most social problems are worse in more unequal societies and that inequality lies at their root.
The booklet was produced by members of My Fair London in response to requests from politicians, trade unionists, and members of the public.
Our huge thanks go to My Fair London for producing this and, in particular, John Philo and Peter Robbins for their major contributions.
The PowerPoint file linked above contains 38 of the more important graphs in The Spirit Level. We hope you will use them in talks, lectures or discussion groups to help increase people’s understanding of the effects of inequality.
The slides (and the graphs contained within them) can be downloaded and used freely without permission, on condition you acknowledge their source: The Spirit Level, Wilkinson & Pickett, Penguin 2009.
We strongly recommend that you use them in conjunction with the book which explains the relationships shown in the graphs.
